The Stew Ponds: A Symphony of Colour
Giclee print on archival quality paper.
In the 12th-century, Epsom Common was originally part of the estate of the Abbey of Chertsey. To ensure a good supply of food through the winter months, the monks created the ponds, or “stews,” and stocked them with fish such as mullet and trout.
The Great Pond has a small island just a short distance from the shoreline and I try to visit there when the autumn colour is at its best. On a calm, windless day the still water allows for a perfect mirror-like reflection, creating a symphony of colours.
Print will be rolled in tissue and sent to you in a card postal tube.
