I found this incredible tree nestled away in the hidden depths of a wood, which is mainly made up of hawthorn trees. I have no idea of its age but its weathered and gnarled trunk appears to bear the marks of a lifetime of struggle. Cloaked from head to toe in a vibrant blanket of moss, it radiates a gentle luminescence amidst the twisted forms of its gloomy surroundings. From certain vantage points, the tree appears as an elderly man, waist-deep in a body of water, fiercely battling against unseen forces to forge ahead.
I call this tree ‘The Old Man of The Wood’, with all of its character and determination, it has become one of my firm favourites in this enchanting wood, filling me with a sense of hope and reminding me to never give up, to keep pushing, no matter what challenges may arise.
