The Bird Tree

from £27.00

Giclee print on archival quality paper.

I had walked by this magnificent oak tree several times. But, set back from the path, behind the swathes of bracken, I hadn’t really looked at it that closely. It wasn't until one particular day, however, that I discovered its hidden secret. As I passed by, a faint glimmer of sunlight was illuminating the trunk and something peculiar caught my attention. In that moment, it dawned on me - the hole where a branch had once been formed a strikingly detailed eye, and the remnant of an old broken branch had transformed into a beak. I couldn't believe my eyes; an entire birds head seemed to emerge from the depths of the tree. From that day forward, whenever I am passing, all I can see is the startling image of the bird, its eye staring intently back at me from out of this beautiful old tree.

This is another of my favourite trees and, not surprisingly, I call it ‘The Bird Tree’.
