Happy Valley Light Show

from £27.00

Giclee print on archival quality paper.

One misty morning in November, feeling the need of some exercise, I decided to take a stroll up Happy Valley at Box Hill. To reach the valley, one must first descend some twisted steps carved into the chalk slope, which can become treacherously slippery when damp. Upon entering the valley, the initial part of the ascent is relatively manageable, but with each step, the incline gradually revealed itself. At the halfway point, I forgot my aching muscles as something truly breathtaking awaited me. Majestic conifer trees, which I believe were larches, in full Autumn colour, standing proudly, their needles a beautiful golden-bronze. As I drew closer to these magnificent trees, the sun emerged above the hill's crest, casting its radiant light along the entire length of the valley. The trees, backlit by the sun's glow and crowned with a gilded halo, sent an enchanting array of beams towards me. It was as if nature herself had orchestrated my own personal light show.
