Photographing wildlife requires two key elements: patience and time. I will confess that sometimes I lack an abundance of the first requirement and, as for time, sometimes there never seems to be enough of it. However, there are those special moments that make it all worthwhile. On one particular day, having walked all around Banstead Wood, I was returning to my car along a footpath which runs alongside a serene woodland and with a sprawling field of barley on the opposite side. It was while walking along here, lost in my thoughts, that I caught a flash of brilliant orange out of the corner of my eye. Typically, butterflies flutter away before one can even ready their camera. But today was different. The vibrant Comma butterfly sat perched, basking in the warm embrace of sunlight. Its stillness allowed me to approach with ease, capturing an exquisite shot that revealed its captivating beauty.
