After the Rain

Bluebells transform the woodland with a breathtaking carpet of vivid blue. Striving to capture this, I have discovered that from a distance, the bluebells form a seamless carpet of colour, but up close, their individual flowers lose their enchantment, becoming a sea of tiny blue pinpoints. To get around this I have learnt that by using a macro lens and utilising it’s shallow depth of field, the colours behind the subject will meld together, so creating that seamless, creamy mix of colours
Exploring an area of woodland that I hadn’t been to before I found some bluebells that were just starting to bloom. There had been heavy rain through the night and I noticed this bluebell with a droplet of water catching the light. I carefully positioned myself close behind a small group of bluebells so that they were blurred and framed my subject. Then carefully adjusted the lens until the bokeh of colours behind aligned perfectly with my subject.
Print will be rolled in tissue and sent to you in a card postal tube.
